RSE

From the September 2020 schools began teaching RSE (Relationships and sex education). At Ashover we use the Derbyshire County Council approved PHSE Matters 2026 Scheme of work to support our teaching and learning in RSE.

Ashover Primary School - Policies

We teach children about sex education in Year 5 and 6 as this is the time when their bodies are changing and they are becoming inquisitive about reproduction. We write to parents before this is taught and they have the option to request that their child opts out of these lessons.

As well as teaching PHSE Matters we also consider National and Local issues which may affect our pupils and provide additional educational activities to support our pupils in understanding these issues.
